Verify Open Meeting Notice & Roll Call: The open meeting notice was verified. Chairman Maurice King,
Supervisor LeRoy Pukrop, Supervisor Dennis Meis, Clerk Angela Lochinger, and Treasurer Lori Kolodziej
were present. 1 town residents and/or visitors were present.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman King at 6:00 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance
was recited.
Approval of Minutes from the meetings of January 15, 2026: Supervisor Meis motioned to approve the
minutes of January 15, 2026, as presented. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Citizens wishing to address the Town Board: None
Supervisor Comments/Concerns: Supervisor Pukrop reported a resident inquiry about cleaning a ditch
on Sunset Drive. Chairman King said he will check maps and property records to determine whether the
ditch is town property.
Supervisor Meis expressed concerns regarding the size of the sand/salt stockpile and the use of sand on
roads this time of year. He also asked about repairs to the Peterbilt truck, and Chairman King explained
damage was found while it was in the repair shop.
Discussion/Action on Portage County Fire Service Agreement: Chief Brian Lepper explained that the
town previously had a countywide mutual aid agreement before switching to MABAS (Mutual Aid Box
Alarm System). He stated they have now been advised to also have a separate countywide fire service
agreement in place to ensure mutual aid coverage when a MABAS box alarm is not called.
Supervisor Pukrop motioned to approve the Portage County Fire Service Agreement as presented.
Supervisor Meis seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Discussion on updates to Ordinance No.3, an ordinance to regulate and control land division in the Town
of Dewey as required by 2025 Wisconsin Act 68: Chairman King reported that updates will be needed to
the town’s land division ordinance to comply with 2025 Wisconsin Act 68. He stated the County is also
working on ordinance changes, and the town will likely wait to review the County’s language before
making similar updates.
Review text and mapping updates to the Portage County Wellhead Protection Ordinance: The Board
reviewed the proposed text and mapping updates to the Portage County Wellhead Protection
Ordinance. Discussion included the difficulty of reading the maps provided and whether the affected
area within the town had changed.
Review bid documents for paving & shouldering work on Willow Springs Drive: The board reviewed the
bid documents for the Willow Springs Drive project, consisting of paving and shouldering approximately
5,386 feet south from Dewey Drive.
Discussion/Action on Resolution No.2 – 2026, a resolution allowing for the reduction of election officials:
The board discussed Resolution No. 2-2026 authorizing the clerk to reduce the number of election
inspectors to three when appropriate.
Supervisor Meis motioned to approve Resolution No. 2-2026, a resolution allowing for the reduction of
election officials. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Review insurance policy renewal documents: Chairman King provided an update on the insurance
renewal documents. He stated that updates had been requested to some of the listed items and Rural
Mutual is making those changes. This included removing the Sterling truck and related equipment and
adding the tandem axle trailer.
Discussion/Action on Town of Dewey 2025 Year End Income/Expense Report & Bank Account Summary:
Following discussion, Supervisor Pukrop motioned to approve the 2025 Year End Income/Expense
Report & Bank Account Summary as presented. Supervisor Meis seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Clerk/Treasurer Reports for January: The board reviewed the Clerk and Treasurer reports for January,
noting that the reports balanced.
Supervisor Pukrop motioned to accept the Clerk and Treasurer reports as presented. Supervisor Meis
seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Chairperson’s Report on town work and activities: Chairman King reported that town employees have
been working on inventory, cleaning and organizing the garage, and brushing in areas where trees and
branches are hanging low. He also reported attending a WTA district meeting and completing the
required BOR training.
Correspondence: The board reviewed correspondence.
Meeting Dates & Agendas: Upcoming Town meetings will be held at the Town of Dewey Town Hall on:
•Wednesday, March 11, 2026 – 6:00 p.m. – Town Board meeting
•Wednesday, March 18, 2026 – 6:00 p.m. – Town Board meeting
Approve and Pay Bills: Supervisor Pukrop motioned to approve and pay the bills as presented.
Supervisor Meis seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Adjournment: Chairman King adjourned the meeting at 7:13 p.m.
