Town Board — Minutes

May13, 2024 The regular monthly meeting of the Town of Rantoul was called to order at 7: 00pm at the Village Hall of Potter by Chairman Mertz. He verified that meeting notices were posted on May 10, 2024. Motion by Jannette, second by Eickert to approve the April 2024minutes as printed ;motion carried by voice vote . Motion by Eickert, second by Jannette to accept the Treasurer’s reportof Checking account balance of $ 22,364.31, Money Market account balance of $ 237,068.52 and Tax Collection Account of $ 10.84 for a total of $259,443.67;motion carried by voice vote. The Town Board viewed the Calumet County activity log for the town, and the most recent sales recording from Action Appraisers and Consultants. For citizen input, there has been concern from resident Ed Manders about the vacant neighboring house. The basement is full of water , and raccoons, opossums, and cats are in and out of the house. The board recommends for Clerk Mink to contact the Calumet County Health Department to make them aware of the situation. The remaining ARPA funds were discussed. There is $22,283.48 remaining. Replacing the pickup truck was discussed as a potential option. A loan to finance the Irish Road Project through BCPL was discussed. Motion by Jannette, second by Eickert to apply for $356,588 to finance the Irish Road Project for a term of 5 years through the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands; motion carried by voice vote. An application for Bridge Aid to replace a culvert on Stecker Rd was presented and sign ed by the Town Board members. The next Road Maintenance meeting will be called as needed. For correspondence, Clerk Mink shared an email from Matt Halada at Calumet County Planning Department regarding a meeting for all municipalities that are taking part in the Calumet County Comprehensive Plan. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 28 th at 6:30 pm at the courthouse. Billstotaling $36,097.05were presented . Motion by Eickert, second by Jannette to approve the bills as presented; motion carried by voice vote. An itemized list follows.
