Verify Open Meeting Notice & Roll Call: The open meeting notice was verified. Chairman Maurice King,
Supervisor LeRoy Pukrop, Supervisor Dennis Meis, Clerk Angela Lochinger, and Treasurer Lori Kolodziej were
present. 2 town residents and/or visitors were present.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman King at 6:00 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was
recited.
Approval of Minutes from the meetings of November 19, 2025: Supervisor Pukrop motioned to approve the
minutes of November 19, 2025, as presented. Supervisor Meis seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Citizens wishing to address the Town Board: Doug Evica asked about contacting the town’s assessor.
Chairman King said he would follow up.
Supervisor Comments/Concerns: Supervisor Meis asked for an update on a past septic issue, had questions
about the tractor rams and suggested they be checked. He also discussed a plowing issue on Oakwood Dr
where the shoulder was damaged.
Discussion/Action on Resolution No.4 – 2025, a Resolution to Designate Snowmobile Routes on town road
right-of-way: Following discussion, Supervisor Meis motioned to approve Resolution No.4 – 2025, a
resolution to designate snowmobile routes. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Discussion/Action on the sale of the 2002 Sterling plow truck and equipment: Chairman King reported the
truck has not sold; the best offer received was $5,300.
Supervisor Pukrop motioned to authorize the town chair to sell the 2002 Sterling plow truck and equipment
by either accepting the best WisconsinSurplus.com offer or to sell for salvage, whichever is higher. Supervisor
Meis seconded. The motion passed 3–0.
Discussion/Action on appointment of Election Inspectors for the 2026-2027 term: The board reviewed a list of
election inspectors from Clerk Lochinger.
Chairman King motioned to approve the appointment of the election inspectors as presented for the 2026–
2027 term. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Discussion/Action on the extension of the terms of the current Plan Commission members until May 1, 2026:
Chairman King explained that with the ordinance updates completed, Plan Commission terms should now run
May 1–April 30. He recommended extending the current members through April 30, 2026, and then setting up
staggered terms at the April appointment.
Supervisor Meis motioned to extend the terms of current Plan Commission members; Kathy Girolamo, Sandy
Meis, Douglas Evica, and Rhonda Hollfelder to April 30, 2026. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The motion passed
3–0.
Discussion/Action on the appointment to the Plan Commission to fill vacant citizen member position until
May 1, 2026: Chairman King stated he would step down from his current Plan Commission appointment,
allowing the commission to return to five citizen members. Jennifer Laskowski volunteered to serve. The
appointment will run through April 30, 2026 and then be added into the normal rotation.
Supervisor Pukrop motioned to appoint Jennifer Laskowski to the Plan Commission through April 30, 2026.
Supervisor Meis seconded. The motion passed 3–0.
Update on assessment and reassessment processes: Chairman King reported the assessor had additional
work due to changes in state personal property tax laws, including creating new files and assessing
improvements at Rivers Edge Campground. This resulted in a one-time additional charge of $1,900, as
allowed under the assessment contract.
Chairman King also noted that during reassessment fieldwork, a laptop was damaged and several files were
lost, requiring the assessor’s staff to revisit approximately 60 properties to redo the work. Residents may see
the assessor return for this reason.
Discussion/Action on Resolution No.5 – 2025, a Resolution to amend the Town’s 2025 Budget: Chairman King
explained the resolution is needed to ensure all budget classifications have sufficient funds using carryover,
reserves, and additional income.
Supervisor Pukrop motioned to approve Resolution No.5 – 2025, a Resolution to amend the Town’s 2025
Budget. Supervisor Meis seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Discussion/Action on Resolution No.6 – 2025, a Resolution Supporting the Wisconsin Battery Stewardship
Senate Bill 702/Assembly Bill 713: Chairman King explained the resolution supports creating a state fund,
paid for by battery producers, to cover recycling costs, provide education, and set up free battery drop-off
locations. He noted Portage County Solid Waste asked for the town’s support as part of their program, in the
hopes that broader backing could help push the legislation through.
Supervisor Meis motioned to approve Resolution No.6 – 2025, a Resolution Supporting the Wisconsin Battery
Stewardship Senate Bill 702/Assembly Bill 713. Supervisor Pukrop seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Clerk/Treasurer Reports for November: The board reviewed the Clerk and Treasurer reports for November,
noting that the reports balanced.
Supervisor Pukrop motioned to accept the Clerk and Treasurer reports as presented. Supervisor Meis
seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Chairperson’s Report on town work and activities: Chairman King provided 2025 road reports which can be
viewed on the town’s website. He reported that town employees have been plowing and maintaining roads,
attended chain saw training, trimmed branches, and updated speed signs. He also provided a corrected 2024
budget summary, sent updated IoH to the DOT, noted Health & Safety Program items needing attention, will
contact Board of Review alternates, created a building information form, and
reported the Peterbilt check engine light was fixed.
Correspondence: The board reviewed correspondence.
Meeting Dates & Agendas: Upcoming Town meetings will be held at the Town of Dewey Town Hall on:
•Thursday, January 15, 2026 – 6:00 p.m. – Town Board meeting
Approve and Pay Bills: Supervisor Pukrop motioned to approve and pay the bills as presented. Supervisor
Meis seconded. The motion passed 3-0.
Adjournment: Chairman King adjourned the meeting at 7:20 p.m.
