September 24, 2025 Town of Dewey Board Meeting Note: These are the proposed Minutes that will be approved at the next Board meeting. ___________________________________________________________________________ Minutes Wednesday, September 24, 2025 430 Dewey Drive-Stevens Point WI 54482 Verify Open Meeting Notice & Roll Call: Open meeting notice was verified. Chairman Maurice King, Supervisor LeRoy Pukrop, Supervisor Dennis Meis and Clerk Angela Lochinger were present. Treasurer Lori Kolodziej was excused. 4 town residents and/or visitors were present. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairman King at 6:00 pm. Provide an update on the proposed reconstruction of Dewey Drive: A representative from Cedar Corp, the engineering firm contracted by the town, attended to provide an update and answer questions. He explained wetland delineation and field survey work will begin this fall, with design work planned to start in the spring/summer of 2026. The project will include adding road base, pulverizing and regrading the existing roadway, paving a 22-foot-wide surface with 4-foot shoulders, and replacing culverts as needed. A short section near St. Mary’s Church will be fully reconstructed due to elevation limits. Construction is expected to take about one to one and a half months, with bidding anticipated in fall 2026 and construction planned for 2027. Discuss/answer any questions from adjoining property owners/citizens: Residents asked questions regarding the road alignment, mailbox locations, materials to be used, and potential property impacts. Cedar Corp confirmed there should be no permanent property acquisition, only possible temporary easements during construction. The road will be straightened and leveled, with added shoulders for stability. Mailboxes may need to be temporarily removed and reinstalled, as wider shoulders and road realignment could require slight adjustments to their placement. Cedar Corp explained that property owners are responsible for reinstalling their mailboxes but that the Town can assist residents if needed. During construction, temporary mailbox stations may be set up by the contractor—typically grouped at intersections—so residents can continue to receive mail. The project extends from County Road Y to Torun Road (approximately 1½ miles). There are no planned speed limit changes, though a study could be considered after construction if needed. Tree removal is not anticipated beyond trimming, and there should be no full road closures except brief ones for culvert work. Cedar Corp plans to hold another meeting next summer to review the project design and discuss any remaining questions. Approve/pay bills: Supervisor Pukrop motioned to approve and pay the bills as presented. Supervisor Meis seconded. The motion passed 3-0. Adjournment: Chairman King adjourned the meeting at 6:26 p.m.
