Minutes 1. The Oct 10, 2023, meeting was called to order by Chairman Wuest at 6:00 p.m. Present: Wuest, Reabe, Triemstra, Pettack, Clerk Morris and Treasurer Toney. Absent: Rather Also Present: Mark Hazelbaker 2. Pledge of Allegiance was said by all in attendance. 3. The minutes of the Sept 12, 2023, meeting were passed by M/S Reabe/Pettack. 4. Monthly Financial Review: a. Treasurer’s report – Summary of last month’s financial statements September was not a very big month, with over $6,200.00 in building permits. b. Clerk’s report – Budget report (monthly) expenses and revenues: Clerk is working on the preliminary budget and attended a meeting regarding the levy limit worksheet and budget, which was helpful. 5. Library report – Christine Lyon, Director. The library report was distributed and read. 6. Building Inspector report – Building Permits issued report was distributed. 7. Fire Commission report – Mark Pettack – report on monthly meetings. Pettack reported that they finished the budget, and it was forwarded to Wuest. They are still waiting for answers on electric vehicle fire solutions. 8. County Board Supervisor Report – Harley Reabe: Reabe reported that an ordinance to rezone in Mackford passed, which was owned by Gelhar Real Estate investments, and the rural residential district ordinance was amended. The board approved an additional worker in the highway department because they will do work for another township. 9. Chairperson Reports: a. Road Report – Mike Wuest: We have had sign thefts again. Working with the sheriff’s department on that issue. We will do tree cutting on roads with overhang. 10. Supervisor Reports: a. Recycling Report – Supervisor Reabe. Reabe:still are pulling two times a week on garbage and recyclables have remained low. Lots of yard waste is coming in. Weed Commissioner Report – Supervisor Pettack Nothing to report. 12. Consideration and Action on: Withdrawal from County Zoning (with Mark Hazelbaker) Hazelbaker spoke about his background and spoke on the history of zoning in Wisconsin and the difference between town and city zoning representation. He felt that if Brooklyn wanted to do its own zoning, he felt it would cost no more than having the county do it. He discussed advantages and disadvantages of withdrawing from county zoning. He took questions from the attendees. Wuest repeated that the presentation was meant to be informational. M/S Reabe/Pettack to approve considering gathering information regarding withdrawal from county zoning and to present this at the annual meeting of the Town. Reabe: yes; Pettack: yes; Wuest: yes; Triemstra: yes. Motion passed with 4 yes, and 1 absent. 13. Next Board Meeting: Nov 14, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. 16.
