Don explained the changes that have been proposed for the existing Conditional Use Permit. He clarified and reminded the group that the discussion only pertains to the existing Conditional Use Permit, the proposed permit for a new facility is not under review at this time. Several neighbors spoke and shared their concerns about traffic on county road W with increase of employees and hours of operation. They have additional concerns about semi traffic with increased production parked and blocking the road. Terry and Don both shared information they collected about traffic (semis specifically) from the Town Attorney as well as the Pierce County Highway Department. Joe Mahoney made a motion to close the public hearing and to move back into Plan Commission meeting. Pat Singel seconded. M.C. Plan Commission meeting reopened at 8:05pm. A lengthy discussion ensued with Plan Commission members sharing their questions and concerns about changing the Conditional Use Permit. Parking was a major concern as was limiting the number of employees. Possible solutions for the parking situation were to add parking spaces on other parts of the land or adjust the hours of operation to spread out the number of cars there at one time. Don reminded the group that conditions put on a business in a conditional use permit must be reasonable and not limiting. Siri made a motion to add a condition to the Conditional Use Permit to provide additional off street parking on the parcel, large enough to eliminate the parking on County Road W, by September 1, 2026. Pat seconded. M.C. Marty made a motion to limit delivery hours between 7am – 6pm. Siri seconded. M.C. Kristin moved and Marty seconded to send the proposed Conditional Use Permit modifications to the Board. Vote: 5 in favor, 1 opposed. M.C Pat moved to adjourn. Kurt seconded. M.C. The public hearing was adjourned at 8:31pm.
