Minutes for 8/18/2026 Zoning Committee Meeting page 1 of 2 The Iron County Comprehensive Planning/Land & Zoning Committ ee met in the County Board Room of the Iron County Courthouse in Hurley, WI on Tuesday, August 18th, 2026. Committee members present were Chairman Patrick Hanson, Jeff Nevala, Steve Finco , Gary Kessler and assistant Zoning Administrator Mark Marczak. Excused were, Erika Roeder, Zoning Department Administrator and Karen Lauer Zoning Committee member. Chairman Hanson called the meeting to order at 3:01p.m. Marczak stated and acknowledged that the meeting notice has been posted properly. Nevala then made the motion to approve the minutes from the 6/16/26 meeting. Hanson seconded. Motion carried. G.I.S. Update: Neil reported the air photos were taken this spring and he received the evaluation files in June. Approximately 832 images were received with approximately 80% reviewed. Continues to work on uploading to Connect Explorer and the County Web Map. He also reported a need to provide map information (on a day off) to the Sheriff’s department for an emergency call in Montreal, Wi. 44 fire number requests have been processed so far which is about par for this time of year. He also updated the E911 data at the request of the new E911 Service provider, Intrado. Conditional Use: Conditional Use: Allow an annual RV permit in a RR-1 (Recreation-Residential zoned district, located on PT GV Lot 1, Sect. 28, T43N, R3E, Town of Mercer. 5505N Robin Drive. Owner Erspamer Pike Lake Cottages, LLC. Site Address: 5505 Robin Drive. Chairman Hanson opened it up to Public Comment. Hearing none, public comment closed. Discussion: Marczak reported that Town approval has not yet been received. Notice was emailed 7/21/26 to Town Clerk. Email and message left on 8/18/26. As of meeting date, no word back. Approval is postponed until September meeting. Marczak will continue to follow up to obtain Town input. Motion to accept made by Finco, second by Nevala. Motion carried. 3 Lot CSM Review Review 3-Lot CSM, surveyed, by Coleman Engineering: Lots 33,34 and 35 of the County Plat of Tapawingo, Located in Sect. 15, T44N, R4E, Hewitt Lane, Town of Oma. Doug Hall, Owner. Marczak reported the CSM meets all requirements, and this survey was completed to address a gravel driveway that was placed on the neighboring parcel by mistake. This is a subdivision, so a CSM was required. Motion made by Kessler to approve. Second by Nevala. Motion carried. Budget Discussion: Roeder had provided spreadsheet showing budget numbers for 2027. No new/big expenditures expected. Increases made based on standard year to year adjustments. Motion by Nevala to approve, Second by Finco. Motion carried. Administrators Report: Marczak, speaking for Roeder, reported Zoning is still 30 permits ahead of the previous year. The work on the moratorium language continues. Roeder will update this committee as soon as she hears back from Corporation Counsel Atty. Alex Morbacher. Public Comment: No public comment Approval of Bills: All committee members reviewed the financial report showing expenses and deposits. No questions or comments. Motion by Nevala, Second by Finco.
