1 Approved 4/23/26 HIGHWAY COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2026 HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT Members Present: Bill Thomas, Pat Hanson, Scott Erickson, Tanner Hiller and Karl Krall Members Absent: None Also Present: Kasey Krall, Commissioner; Tana Osterman, Office Manager; Larry Youngs, County Board Chairman; Jay Sween, County Manager Call to Order: Chairman Thomas called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. Roll Call: All members present. Meeting Notice: The meeting was properly posted in the Iron County Miner, Ironwood Daily Globe, and announced on WJMS and WUPM. Approval of Minutes: Motion by Hanson, supported by Erickson, to approve the minutes from the February 17, 2026, meeting. Motion carried. Old Business: • None Amend 2026 Budget: Resolution No. 2026-4072, amending Highway Budget Funds 700 and 208, was presented (proposed revisions attached). Motion by Hiller, supported by Krall, to adopt the amendment as outlined in Resolution No. 2026-4072. Motion carried. Extend Vacation Rollover: Motion by Hanson, supported by Erickson, to extend the vacation rollover deadline from March 31 to December 31. Motion carried. Commissioner’s Report: Emergency Management: o FEMA WEM/WDF (Wisconsin Disaster Fund) o Processing fire numbers o Coordinating training for the Fire Association o Upcoming 911 Conference in Wisconsin Dells, May 11-13 2 Highway Department: o Installation of signage for the $30,000 LFA project on Hwy 77; Lekies built slide extension for a pickup truck to assist with sign installation. o Preparing summer equipment in the shop o Continuing work with RT Vision software; Chems transitioning to a new contact following a staffing change. o April 6th going to four 10-hour shifts Payment of Bills: Motion by Hanson, supported by Tanner, to approve payment of the following bills: • February 18-28: $23,785 • March $52,216.71 Motion carried. Public Comment: Youngs expressed appreciation to the Highway Committee and staff for their work.
