Minutes for 2/17/2026 Zoning Committee Meeting page 1 of 2 The Iron County Comprehensive Planning/Land & Zoning Committee met in the County Board Room of the Iron County Courthouse in Hurley, WI on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026. Committee members present were Chairman Patrick Hanson, Karen Lauer, Doug Swartz , and Kurt Wolff. Al so in attendance, Larry Youngs, County Board Chairman and Erika Roeder, Zoning Department Administrator . Assistant Zoning Administrator Mark Marczak, GIS Specialist, Neil Martinko. Absent, Rick Boes. Hanson called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Roeder acknowledged the meeting was properly posted. Motion to approve 1/20/2025 minutes by Lauer/Swartz; carried 4-0. Conditional Use Hearing: Allow an annual RV permit in an RR -1 (Residential-Recreation) zoned District, located in part of Lot 41 of the Plat of Whitecap, Section 5, Township 45 North, Range 1 East, Town of Anderson (site address is Alpine Drive). Jeffrey & Nicole Gaspar, owners. • Open public comment • Close public comment • Discussion then decision by the Zoning Committee. • Postponed at January meeting but approved at Anderson Town Board January meeting. Discussion ensued. No public comment received. Motion to approve by Swartz, seconded by Lauer. Motion carried 4-0 Conditional Use Hearing: Allow the operation of a Hair Salon, in a residential R-1 zoned district. Located on part of Government Lot 1, Tract#2, of Leitch & Jacobs Certified Map #2. Sect. 25, T43N, R3E. 5770N Echo Lake Road. Town of Mercer, Wi. Jeremy and Julie Faulkner, Owners. • Open public comment • Close public comment • Discussion then decision by the Zoning Committee Mercer Town Board has yet to meet on this request so motion made by Wolff, seconded by Lauer, to postpone this decision until we hear back from the Mercer Town Board. They are scheduled to meet 3/12/26. GIS Updated: presented by Neil Martinko. Martinko states that he and Clara Maki, County Treasurer, have completed all the parcel splits for 2025. He’s in the process of wrapping everything up and submitting it to the State. Once completed, Iron County will be eligible for Land Information Grants in 2026. Administrator’s Report: Director Roeder stated as of today’s date we are 15 permits ahead of this time last year. She also went on to say how nice it is with fewer interruptions now that the I.T. Dept. has been moved. Currently working with Bill Nasi on designing and building counter space to provide area for residents and Zoning customers to utilize in completing their permit applications. Public Comment: No public comment Approval of Bills: Chairman Hanson reviewed the bills for Zoning. Motion by Wolff, seconded by Swartz, to approve. Motion carried 4-0. Set Next Meeting Date: Next Zoning Committee meeting is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17th at the Iron County Courthouse, main Board Room. Adjourn: Chairman Hanson made the motion to adjourn . Wolff approved, seconded by Boes. Meeting adjourned.
