Plan Commission Meeting — Minutes

Town of New Glarus Plan Commission Meeting Minutes Thursday May 21, 2026 – 6:00 P.M. Chalet Landhaus, Conference Room 801 WI Hwy 69, New Glarus, WI Members in Attendance: Chris Narveson, John Ott, Mark Pernitz, Alex Esser, Reg Reis, along with Darla Kramer, Clerk Treasurer. Absent: Mike Nevil and John Freitag. Others in attendance: Rob Ready, Pete Heil. 1. Call to Order – Chair Narveson called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. 2. Clerk Treasurer Darla Kramer confirmed the agenda was posted May 19, 2026. 3. Oath of Office for Alex Esser and Mark Pernitz taken for a 3-year term 4. No minutes to approve. 5. Public Time – There was no one to speak during public time. 6. Development Potential Mapping was posted on the website. 7. Discussion on Official Road Map – The Town Board was not in favor of the mapping. 8. CSM - Discussion with Peter Heil on purchasing a non-buildable parcel and having it deed restricted. He is the adjacent owner and wants the land for bee hives and other non-residential uses. The parcel consists of the quarry on land currently owned by the Donald and Susan Halversen Trust. The proposed lot is 4.36 acres and must be declared as open space. This acreage would apply against Halvorsen’s acreage and may affect their splits. Will have Tim Schleeper from Vierbicher Planners specify the deed restriction to be used and the language that needs to be added to the CSM. 9. Discussion on three lots for Eddie Klitzke was postponed until next month. Tim Schleeper will need to review. 10. CSM 5353 – Reviewed for Garret Perry. Would possibly allow a cluster to move if he tears down the old house. It would have to be demolished and get a building permit for the other parcel. The original one showed west of Lot 1. Survey map recorded lot and increased 14.38 acres. Original was reduced from 39 to 33 acres. Would have to identify the old house lot as open space. No additional building site. 11. Country Haven Development – All parties could not attend. Will set up a technical review. 12. Staff Reports – An electrical pedestal is set, and wiring will start on Tuesday at the New Town Garage. HVAC guys will start next week. Cleary will be back the end of June to start steel inside. 13. Next meeting is scheduled to be held June 18, 2026, at 6 pm – Town Garage at 200 Railroad St. 14.
