Discussion on Sugar River EMS District – The town is currently purchasing services from Belleville EMS. That was a one-year contract for 2026. During discussions it was talked about creating a new district. This would be a 7-municipality district including, Belleville, New Glarus T own, New Glarus Village, Brooklyn (part of), Oregon (part of), Montrose and Exeter. Each municipality would have someone on the board and there will be monthly meetings. It would be a brand-new entity, so we are not contracting services from anyone. It would be audited. There is a provision that any municipality can withdraw at any time. There is a one-year notice period. The advantage is instead of purchasing service from someone we are now a part of a district. Supervisor Streiff feels decision points are performance, cost, and duration of the contract. We have representation in this per Supervisor Pernitz. Performance has been nothing but positive the last 3 months. The board set a date of March 18th at 5pm for Special Town Board Meeting for possible action on the Sugar River EMS District. 8.
