CITY OF PITTSVILLE WATER & SEWER COMMISSION Wednesday, August 10, 2026 Council Chambers – 5318 First Ave. Pittsville The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman, Jerry Jensen. Members Present: Deana Becker, Janel Swoboda, Bob Schooley and Dennis Todd Also Present: Peter Petersen, Director of Public Works, and Mark Darr, Mayor No Conflicts of Interest were identified. Motion by Becker, second by Schooley to approve the minutes from July 8, 2026. Motion carried. Motion by Schooley to approve Trevor Millard’s sewer adjustment due to his wash machine malfunctioning. Second by Becker. Motion carried Abels have not reached back as to what they found regarding a possible leak causing usage increase. Will bring it back if they respond. The commission discussed the response from the City Attorney regarding the Water Tower Maintenance agreement that was previously presented. It was decided to table this contract and move forward as things have in the past. Inspections and repairs will be done based on regulations, and the commission will begin to set money aside for when it is time to paint the tower. Motion by D. Todd to transfer $100,000 to the state savings account and earmark it for water tower painting. Second by Schooley. Motion carried Peter is working on the best options to repair the Cat Creek line. He is working with companies to install HDPE pipe, a high-pressure liner that goes inside the pipe. Then the public works team will put something on the outside of the hole to ensure nothing penetrates it again from the outside. Peter hopes to have bids for the next meeting. The manhole on Main St. needs to be repaired. There is no current work scheduled for main street so it makes the most sense for the team to repair it at this time. Peter plans to use the materials they have on hand for the repair. Peter discussed the Operational report. He mentioned that with the continued warm weather, residents are still using a lot of water. However, test results are coming back good on the water and sewer side. He stated they have to pivot and spend some unexpected money with the construction project having not including the cost for adjusting them. Angela discussed the administrative report. Future agenda items are as follows: Cat Creek hole repair bids, and potentially the Abel water sewer adjustment. Motion by Todd second by Becker to approve water vouchers #12249-12269 and sewer vouchers #08099 - 08112. Motion carried. Motion by Jensen second by Becker. to adjourn.
