Those in attendance were SMLD board members Ted Gallagher, Marilee Pelko, Joshua
Daubner, and Gary Walejko. SLMD members Mike Beauchaine, Mike McMonigal, and
Joan Lehman were also in attendance. Meeting called to order by chair Ted Gallagher

Marilee Pelko read the treasurer’s report. Josh Daubner moved to accept the report;
Ted 2nd. None opposed.
Old business - goose control - Josh Daubner read Bill Hutchison’s report to US Fish and
Wild Life and we talked about what he does and where nests were found last Spring.
Carp Weir - Gary reviewed what needs to be done as far as dredging around the weir to
prevent erosion and removing cattails blocking the weir. Joan mentioned that the
permit has been filed. We just need to sign and return form to the DNR water dept.
Gary suggested it be dug in the winter, based on availability of the county dept. Once
permit is received, DNR will survey and either approve or deny the permit.
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) - Cason fall survey - no results reported as of yet and
will disburse once we receive them. Will review in January meeting.
New business-
Property tax roll changes were submitted to the county and accepted.
Water analysis and testing - Mike Beauchaine shared knowledge about heavy metal
testing that he is able to do from his employer. This is what he does for a living. He
had done 8 private tests. Lake bottom and surface tests were done. He would like to
continue testing. Josh Daubner moved to accept Mike’s request and will discuss at Jan
meeting. Marillee 2nd. None opposed.
Gary or Vicki at Marion Town can provide our County rep name and contact info. She
can also update the town website with our minutes and agenda information.
We then reviewed how we keep records and that I (Josh Daubner) will create the
Google drive and send invites to each board member. We will also keep a paper
physical copy as a backup. I volunteered to be the administrator of the drive even after
I am not on the board. I moved that we reorg our documents and keep paper copies of
all records in the Marion town hall, as well as Google drive shared to all board
members, to be completed before next annual meeting. Marilee 2nd. None opposed.
Open discussion Gary brought up the condo lot to discuss how its divided up and how
many of the 40+ owners with access to the lot don’t even know if its on their deeded
title. Many of this infomation has been lost over the years. Mike McMonigal
suggested a quiet title action be done by the township to notify all property owners that
the lot needs to be either be re-added to all titles that own the lot, or passed to the
public, or sold. This is not an SLMD issue and is a township of Marion issue.
Marillee moved to adjourn at 10:15; Ted 2nd. Meetting adjourned.
