CALL TO ORDER: At 6:30p.m.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
ROLL CALL: Chairman Spierings, Supervisor Lutz, Supervisor Trzebiatowski, Clerk Lea, Treasurer Rogers, Plan Commission Chairperson Brenna Olson, Gary Rzentkowski, Brent Holderman, Wally Leppen, Travis Bassett, Ray Reser and John Pavelski.
APPROVAL OF FEBRUARY 11,2026 MONTHLY MINUTES: M/S by Trzebiatowski/Lutz to approve the February 11, 2026, minutes. M/C. Aye = 3
PUBLIC INPUT: 1.) Travis Bassett and Wally Leppen introduced themselves as candidates for County Supervisor, District 25. Clerk Lea asked the candidates (and they responded) “Why” they are running for County Supervisor.
ANN PAVELSKI – TREE/BRUSH CUTTING ON PAVELSKI RD: Ann was not present, but her husband, John was present. Ann does not want any tree or brush cutting near her home on Pavelski Rd. The town does have permission per State Statues to cut any trees/brush 33 feet from the centerline. John Pavelski will trim the trees himself.
RAY RESER: Ray Reser, candidate for Portage County Executive, introduced himself. Reser is currently the County Board Chairman and has acted as County Executive during a medical emergency for the current County Executive. Reser claims that a lot of projects have been done during his term and there are many projects the County will be working on.
GROUNDWATER REPORT: Representative Gary Rzentkowski was present. There was no meeting to report on.
PLAN COMMISSION REPORT: No meeting this month. Chairperson, Brenna Olson has been working with Portage County on violations in the Town of Amherst. The Plan Commission is seeking the reappointment of Gary Rzentkowski for a 3-year term.
PLAN COMMISSION RENEWAL OF 3 YEAR TERM – GARY RZENTKOWSKI: Plan Commission member, Gary Rzenktowski is up for renewal for a 3-year term. Renewals are at the discretion of the town chairman. Chairman Spierings appoints Gary Rzentkowski as a Plan Commission member for a 3-year term.

FIRE & SAFTEY REPORT: Multiple electronic door card readers are being put in at the Amherst Fire Station. Key card and camera will be put in the drug room also for safety reasons. Tires on trucks have been changed. They must be changed every 7 years.
2026 ROAD PROJECTS: Currently, Lake Rd., Pavelski Rd, Bestul Rd and Floistad Rd. are graveled and need to be finished. Town of Lanark Chairman, Mike Pagel emailed an estimate from Scott Construction for a double chipseal for Floistad Rd.
ROAD REPORT: 1.) Weight limits are on as of February 16th. 2.) Shouldering needs to be done. 3.) Road checks need to be done before the Annual Meeting. 4.) The town will be receiving a bill from Stuczynski Trucking for the portion of Pavelski Rd. paid by the Village of Nelsonville that the town owns.
TOWN HALL REPORT: 1.) There will be an election on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Rogers read report. Town balance is $410,424.26. New building/Road Repair Loan balance is $238,497.79
PAYMENT OF BILLS: Reviewed
BUDGET REPORT: Reviewed.
BUILDING INSPECTION, ZONING PERMIT REPORT: 1.) Jerome & Joan Shulfer. 2.) Louis LaCount.
SET DATE FOR ANNUAL MEETING: Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
CORRESPONDENCE: 1.) None
AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MONTH: 1.) Brush Pile contract with Village of Amherst 2.) Insurance bids 3.) Review prices for 2026 Snow removal and grass cutting to other municipalities.
