AGENDA SUMMARY SHEET
MEETING DATE: 08/24/26 TITLE: 2027 Waupun Community Center Rental Fees
AGENDA SECTION: DISCUSSION
PRESENTER: Rachel Kaminski, Recreation
Program Director
SUMMARY
Proposing changes to the rental fee structure for 2027 for the Waupun Community Center rentable rooms. August 2026,
marks 1 year of rentals being available at the Waupun Community Center. The trends that have been observed are use
of renting one room at a time over multiple rooms/full facility rentals for no more than 6 hours. This trend does not
reflect on the labor cost of building supervisor at a flat rental rate for the duration of the rental. Recommendation to
make the room rates by the hour instead of by the previous time limit to cover the labor cost and still generate rental
revenue. The proposal below, simplifies and defines the previous rental permit.
Proposed 2027 Rentable Rooms, Fees, Days, Time Limits
Non-Profit Definition: A legal non -profit is a non -governmental organization formed under state law to serve a public,
charitable, or social benefit rather than to make money for owners. It is bound by a non -distribution rule meaning extra
money goes back into the cause, though it can still get federal tax-exempt status
Resident Definition: Must have current physical household address within the City of Waupun. Resident listed on the
permit is the party responsible and must be onsite during the duration of the rental.
Non-Resident Definition: A household physical address that is outside the City of Waupun. Waupun home addresses that
are rural/township are non-resdeint. Non-Resident listed on the permit is the party responsible and must be onsite during
the duration of the rental.

Community Room $25/hour $35/hour $45/hour
Dining Room $25/hour $35/hour $45/hour
Kitchen $25/hour $35/hour $45/hour
Gymnasium $25/hour $50/hour $80/hour
Conference Room $25/hour $35/hour $45/hour
*Room rentals are available without conflicting with regularly scheduled Waupun Recreation Department
programming.
Private Party Definition: A family gathering or organization/business meeting. Must be pre-approved by Community
Center Director.
Community Event Definition: Large event that is open to the public. Must be pre-approved by Community Center
Director.

The People We Keep by Allison Larkin, 368 pages. “Little River, New Y ork,
1994: April Sawicki is living in a motorless motorhome that her father won

she’s left fending for herself in a town where she’s never quite felt at home.
When she “borrows” her neighbor’s car to perform at an open mic night,
she realizes her life could be much bigger than where she came from. After

Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book
subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she's

written inside a book by Charles Lamb...” Source: goodreads.com
