Review/Discussion –Clean Sweep for 2027: Rich Bauer was working with La Crosse
County Household Hazardous Material Program to do more of a self-collection. But after
August 6th, 2026 Recycling Committee minutes
talking with Tony regarding past years, the risk of any liability seams to not be worth taking
a chance of an incident if we did not go directly with Violia for their assistance. The Grant
for next years Clean sweep was issued and contract has been signed for $3,830.49 for Ag,
$12,709.80 for House hold Waste.
Per Capita Rate: Rich recommended keeping the current rate of $5.00 per person for 2027.
Claire made a motion to keep the current rate and Jean 2nd it.
Mattress Recycling: Green Cycle has got an automated recycling of Mattresses available
in La Crosse working directly with them for large volumes at $425 a ton, or thru La Crosse
landfill for $14.00 each. Some thought that BBC&M was currently taking loads of mattresses
to La Crosse. Rich will see if they are and if we can work with them to try and recycle when
possible.
