Economic Development Committee Meeting — Minutes

VILLAGE OF FOOTVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING THURSDAY, MAY 28, 2026 MINUTES 1. The Economic Development Committee meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm. Committee members present: Bob Selck (Chairman), Danielle Harnack, Jeanne Wilson, Charles Duncan, Chuck Hagmann, and Mae Cowan. 2. Update on bathroom project: There will be a meeting on June 8th with Troy Suer to schedule the removal of the stone pavilion. Drawings for the new restrooms/concession stand were provided by George Maas and paid for by Bob Selck. Chuck Duncan will acquire a building permit, schedule building materials, contact the electrician (Matt Wellnitz), plumber (Mike Hoff), Troy Suer (excavator), Charles Duncan Jr. (G.C) and Shawn Mielke (flatwork concrete). The stone from the stone pavilion will be stored on pallets at the village shop for future historic reuse projects. Chuck Duncan will coordinate with Mike Hoff on the drinking fountain. There was discussion on the color of the building. The bathroom doors are vented with forced air fans on timers. No heating or cooling units are figured in for the new restrooms. Ideas for a restroom near the upper diamond were discussed. 3. Discuss future plans for grandstand: Bob wants a retro/old fashioned grandstand to replace the existing grandstand and concession building. Pictures of an example in Illinois – 3 tiers of benches with backs on 32” – 56” deep to allow for seating and an aisle between seating. Centrally located announcer box. Seating for 90 – 100 persons. 3.1 Remove old concrete basketball court (winter of 2026) to make room for pickleball courts with lights. 3.2 Replace old light fixtures on the old wood poles – retain historic “lighted softball field in the nation” Budget $75,000 for new lights and poles – 5 years from now – 100-year anniversary of lighting the park. 4. Discuss possible uses for the land adjacent to park: 1.5 miles of walking trail in the land recently purchased by the village. Grant money being looked into for benches and/or a gazebo. Access roads to the new property from the water tower TIF project. One near water tower, one near northern ball field 5. Water Tower subdivision update: Possible 29 lots in the water tower subdivision. The nature trail must be protected from future expansion. 6.
