Theresa Public Works Report – From January for February Meeting Bill Weisensel, Director of Public Works Village DPW 1. Mayville High School manufacturing students have completed and delivered the 6 new picnic tables, and the 4 benches have been completed and will be delivered next week for a total cost of $2100. These will be placed in spots throughout the Village where the old ones are falling apart. 2. Several meetings with We Energies and Engineers in regards to the Milwaukee Street improvements project trying to coordinate with all utility entities involved. 3. River’s Edge Park brush pile has been ground up into mulch that is free for residents to pick up. The area will be smoothed out as time and weather cooperates. As of right now the ground is too frozen to do any more smoothing out. 4. Lots of time spent with new home construction in the subdivisions as all our utilities need to be marked at each stage of excavation, and whenever services such as electric, gas, cable, etc. are connected to these new houses. Also respond to concerns from residents in existing homes near the construction zones in these areas, and work with the building inspector and the developer to make sure everything is being done as required by Village ordinances. Sanitary Sewer 1. Our concrete sewer force main pipe that conveys wastewater from the main lift station on Wisconsin Street to the WWTP was damaged by an underground drilling contractor on 1/29/25 due to their error. This required us to dig up the street and fix our pipe. This expense will be billed to the contractor that caused the damages. 2. Daily operations of the WWTP include additional testing requirements of 3 times/week of certified lab testing parameters, and 5 times/week of in-house lab testing parameters. Weekly e-coli testing will also resume in 3. Sanitary sewer lateral work continues with follow up to residents on Mayville Street that need to complete their private side lateral repairs yet, as well as any other homes that are overdue for their lateral repairs. The vast majority of laterals on the list will be repaired/replaced with the Milwaukee Street project. 4. Annual sludge hauling reports have been completed as required, along with the WPDES Permit requirement to complete and submit a Land Application Management Plan to the DNR to ensure sludge is being properly disposed of on our approved sites. 5. Received a request for quote of our rates for septage disposal at the WWTP from Dean Septic Service. This company had previously brought in much income for the Utility, however were sometimes problematic with some of the waste they brought in, causing additional work and expenses to be incurred by us. Waterworks 1. Two more water main breaks have recently occurred bringing the total number of breaks to 6 within a one year time frame to the original portions of the water distribution system that have been in service since 1954. 2. Followed up with several homeowners who were showing leaks or other problems including frozen pipes. Also some occasional problems have occurred with the meter reading requiring follow up. 3. One fire hydrant was damaged when it and the street signpost at the corner of Wisconsin and W. Rock River Street were ran over by a semi. The costs of the repairs to our hydrant and replacement street signs and post will be sent to the trucking company. 4. Much time also spent on report for the PSC as required due to the rate increase, also the annual PSC report spreadsheet, and regular monthly water and wastewater reports. 5. Following up with the manufacturer of the submersible mixer that was installed inside the water tower in 2023 that has failed likely due to bearing failure. The repair/replacement of this mixer will most likely be covered by the manufacturer warranty. o If you have any additional comments, questions or concerns please contact Director of Public Works, Bill Weisensel at 920-488- 4003 or email at dpwdirector@villageoftheresawi.gov
