Mayville EMS-Village of Lomira
Monthly Update-September 2026
Calls for Service
During the month of September, Mayville EMS responded to 33 calls for service in the Village of Lomira,
bringing our YTD total to 183 calls.
New EMS Facility
We continue to move forward with plans for our new EMS/Training Center facility. We have officially
signed a contract with our architect and are continuing to work through the next steps of the project.
Staffing
I have requested an additional full-time AEMT position to help address our continued call volume and
staffing needs. The request has been forwarded to the City Council for approval. My goal is to have the
position approved and the new employee hired by the end of the year.
Training Center
Our EMT and AEMT students have now been released for their clinical skills. As a result, you will begin
seeing students riding on our ambulances and gaining hands-on experience with our crews.
Monthly Training
September's training focused on protocol review, critical thinking, and teamwork. Crews worked
through patient scenarios where they had to identify different clues and work together to determine
what was happening with the patient and how best to treat them.
Lomira First Responders
We now have four Lomira First Responders who are cross credentialed with Mayville EMS.
Cross credentialing allows these First Responders to utilize a higher level of EMS skills
while waiting for the ambulance to arrive on scene.
This provides an important first line of patient care and allows treatment to begin
sooner when appropriate. We have also provided the necessary equipment
for the AEMTs to begin establishing IV access when indicated.
Brave Like Bryn Blood Drive
We will be hosting the Brave Like Bryn Blood Drive on October 14 at the TAG Center. Our goal is to
collect 100 units of blood.
We encourage everyone who is eligible to donate to consider participating. Blood donations directly
help patients in our communities.
Respectfully submitted,
Julie Staffin

• Fall Bingo: Thank you to Kelleys Farmstead, King Pin Lanes Bowling, Sweet Peas Pies, and the
TAG Center for donating prizes for our Fall Bingo. Ninety patrons completed their bingo cards
- a favorite challenge was finding a book with a one-word title.
• “New” Furniture : Thank you to the Hustisford Community Library for making your old
furniture available to other libraries. Lomira is now the proud owner of another large round
table, which is nearly an exact match to our two existing round tables. And apparently, it is
difficult to play sheepshead at a square table - so our Wednesday card players are especially
excited!
• County Reimbursement: The Dodge County Library Planning Committee has recommended
the same formula; Lomira should be reimbursed at 100% for 2027. Lomira is one of one four
libraries in the coun ty to be reimbursed at that rate . The other twelve libraries will be
reimbursed at 80 -95% (based on their cost per circulation ). *Rates will be officially set when
the county approves their budget in November.
