F:\MyFiles\wp6data\PARKS\Park Committee Minutes 4.1.2026.docx8/19/2024 10:34 AM TOWN OF WESTPORT PARK COMMITTEE – Wednesday, April 1, 2026 A regular meeting of the Park Committee was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chair Amy Freidig in the Bernard J. Kennedy Administration Building/Town Hall. Members Present: Ben Buss, Amy Freidig and Mary Manering. Absent: Mick Holm. Public Present: None. Freidig confirmed that this meeting conforms with open meetings law. There was no public comment on matters not on the agenda. The Minutes of April 1, 2026, Park Committee Meeting were approved on a motion by Mannering, second Will, motion approved unanimously. Town Park Center - Manering provided an update on the proposed sculpture for the park center. Tree Planting Plan - Freidig presented an update on the maintenance and planting plan. She explained the details of the new tree grant and noted that the Parks Committee is willing to assist with grant execution as needed. The committee also reviewed the Tree Ordinance and discussed memorial trees. General Park / Trail Maintenance and Development - The committee discussed Jackson Landing and the ongoing need to support maintenance of the boardwalk. Recommendations for Upcoming Town Plan Commission and Joint Plan Commission Meetings - Parks Committee’s role in the tree planting plan - Memorial trees - Jackson Landing Misc. Matters / Forthcoming Events - The tree ordinance will be reviewed at the next Parks Committee meeting. - The committee will meet in June and August but will not meet in May or July.
