Town of New Hope Plan Commission Meeting Minutes Town of New Hope Town Hall, 845 County Road T North, Amherst Junction Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, 10:00 am Re: Request to amend the Town of New Hope Comprehensive Plan Commission Members Present: Todd Knepfel (Chair), Dan Zaborowski, Ray Reser Rezoning Request Applicant and Surveyor Representative: Rhonda Fechter, Erin Whipple Guests: Hal Barkdahl, Glenn Coenen, Mary Dahlen, Paul Dahlen, Jesse Glodowski, Paul Klein, Helen Klimowicz, Debra Sisk 1. Call to order. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by Chair Knepfel. 2. Landowners Larry and Rhonda Fechter petitioned the Plan Commission to amend the Town Comprehensive Plan to allow a 2.001-acre lot to be created within a previously surveyed non-compliant 6.83-acre lot (026241015-12.13); and to rezone that smaller parcel from A1 (Exclusive Ag) to R2. 3. Chair Todd Knepfel presented a review of the previous meeting and a brief history of the petition prior to discussion. Discussion ensued. Several adjacent land owners expressed concern, should the Town modify its comprehensive plan to allow 2 acre lots within A-1 zoning. Reser outlined the position of Portage County Planning and Zoning and the Town of New Hope relevant to the requested lot size and zoning changes. 4. Reser suggested that the Committee move to a vote on the current request, seconded by Zaborowski. Motion failed with a unanimous vote to deny. 5. Meeting was adjourned at 11:02 am.
