Minutes NOTICE – TOWN OF BARABOO PLAN COMMISSION MEETING
The Town of Baraboo Plan Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 6:15 PM at
the Baraboo Town Hall, located at 101 Cedar Street, Baraboo, WI 53913.
1. Meeting to order at 6:15pm and Lea Ann Gieck verified compliance with Wisconsin’s open meeting
laws, agenda was posted by Steve Hess online and in three posting boxes on Thursday, July 30th, 2026.
2. Introduction of Plan commission members Randy Puttkamer, Al Stanek, Pat Sprecher, and Lea Ann
Gieck.
3. Motion to Adopt the agenda for this meeting made by Randy Puttkamer, seconded by Al Stanek.
Motion carried unanimously.
4. Motion to Adopt the minutes of the July 6, 2026 meeting. Randy Puttkamer moved, Pat Sprecher
seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
5. No Citizens appeared on non-agenda topics.
6. Discussion only Little Society farms sanitary sewer developments. Little Society Farm sent out a
message to Randy, they have all of the grants. If it is feasible, any new development needs to connect
with existing sanitary sewer district. Contacted the gentleman across the road. Would cost them
$100,000 for the line and $40,000 for the lift station. We have it in our ordinance, if it's not feasible,
they can go back to the sanitary sewer district and ask for alternatives. Howard Castle said it was fine, it
is not feasible and told them they can do a private septic, and it is sized for what they have planned.
Randy talked to the town clerk and this is on the town board’s agenda for next week.
7. Cassandra Fowler was not available to present tonight. Board discussed: once data is given to us by
Cassandra (would like survey results on website), at this time we are not doing updates, we are still
going through the data. Once that is complete we will then start looking at potential changes to the
comprehensive plan. Sauk County - 18 mo moratorium against Data Centers until we can learn more.
Sauk County recommends townships do their own moratorium as well. August: our area has been
selected for a major transmission line they say to stabilize infrastructure. Randy to send more info.
September 23rd: Great Sauk Trail Meeting from 5-7p at the Baraboo Library.
8. No action was taken on tourist rooming house permits.
9. Under communications we discussed Brightspeed: Construction mess near Draper. Water going
underneath the culvert, everything is washing out. In the future, we need to be more on top of it when
these companies come in, we should have a meeting with them (especially the Foreman of the crew, not
the company reps) before they start work. Take the Town Engineer with us for this meeting.
10. Next meeting dates are set for: Tuesday, September 8th, 2026 and Monday, October 5th, 2026
11. Motion to adjourn made at 6:52pm by Randy Puttkamer, seconded by Pat Sprecher. Motion carried
unanimously.
A quorum of the Baraboo Town Board may attend this meeting to gather information about a subject on
which the town board has a decision-making responsibility. If a quorum of the town board attends, no
action will be taken by the board at this time. Agenda by Steve Hess – Plan Commission Chairperson. If
anyone has a question about an agenda item, please contact town Clerk Jennife Roloff via email at
clerk@tn.baraboo.wi.gov, or call (608) 356-5170.
