MINUTES – TOWN OF BARABOO PLAN COMMISSION MEETING The Town of Baraboo Plan Commission held a meeting on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 6:15 PM at the Baraboo Town Hall, located at 101 Cedar Street, Baraboo, WI 53913. AGENDA 1. Steve Hess called the meeting to order at 6:15 PM and verified compliance with Wisconsin’s open meeting laws, stating that the meeting agenda was posted on May 1 in all three posting boxes and at the town hall-. 2. Plan commission members Steve Hess, Randy Puttkamer, Al Stanek, Pat Sprecher, and Lea Ann Gieck were all present and introduced . 3. Motion to adopt the agenda for the meeting made by Randy Puttkammer, seconded by Lea Ann Gieck. Motion carried unanimously. 4. Motion to adopt the minutes of the March 2, 2026 meeting made by Pat Sprecher, seconded by Al Stanek. Motion carried unanimously. 5. No Citizens appeared to speak on non-agenda topics. 6. Motion by Randy Puttkamer, seconded by AL Stanek to move to town board for approval a Special Exception Permit for the operation of a lodging house located at S5752 Coleman Road, Town of Baraboo, tax parcel number 002-1307-11100. This is a new construction home in the Tranquility subdivision in the sanitary sewer district. Motion is made contingent upon construction completion, with occupancy, safety, and health certificates issued. Motion carried unanimously. 7. Cassandra Fowler sent a spreadsheet of results of the Community Survey for the Town of Baraboo Comprehensive Plan, but was unable to attend in person. Spreadsheet was shared to commission members but plan commission wanted to delay action until they could have Ms. Fowler present the results No changes to the current comprehensive plan at this meeting. 8. Reviewed tourist rooming house permits on file and payments made to the town. The town has now received paperwork from almost all current Vacation rentals. Steve Hess will update spreadsheets and print certificates for approval at the next town board meeting. 9. Communications around that next meeting may have two Tourist rooming houses that will be changing hands and a CSM. Updates on a landowner inquiring on building a second dwelling on RC-35 property , updates. Update on Skillet Creek campground updating some buildings and cabins, communication from county indicated that that in future campgrounds may be permitted rather that special exceptions, so that after July campgrounds may not need to put in an entirely new SEP for updates 10. Set the dates for the next meetings at June 1, 2026 and July 6, 2026. 11. Motion to Adjourn made at 7:30 by Lea Ann Gieck, seconded by Pat Sprecher.
