MINUTES IF THE TOWN OF BARABOO PLAN COMMISSION MEETING The Town of Baraboo Plan Commission held a meeting on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 6:15 PM at the Baraboo Town Hall, located at 101 Cedar Street, Baraboo, WI 53913. 1. The meeting was called to order at 6:15 PM. Steve Hess verified compliance with Wisconsin’s open meeting laws by posting the meeting agenda at the three town posing boxes on January 3, 2026. 2. Plan commission members introduced were Steve Hess, Randy Puttkamer, Al Stanek, and Lea Ann Gieck. Commission member Pat Sprecher was absent. Town Supervisor Bill Steinhorst was present. 3. Motion made to adopt the posted agenda for this meeting made by Randy Puttkamer, seconded by Al Stanek. Motion carried unanimously. 4. Motion made to adopt the minutes of the December 1, 2025 meeting made by Randy Puttkamer, seconded by Al Stanek. Motion carried unanimously. 5. No Citizens appeared to speak on non-agenda topics. 6. Discussion in regards to a Special Exception Permit application for a nonmetallic mining site on tax parcels 002-0779-00000, 002-0784-02000 and 002-0784-10000, located at S4168 Crawford Street, Baraboo, WI. Nick Sperkle communicated that Tyler Leatherberry had indicated he needed to get a road agreement from the town to operate. The “current” Special Exception Permit was issued to the previous owner (before Tyler Leatherberry), and legally expired upon property transfer in July 2023. No action taken 7. Motion made to utilize Town of Freedom Survey as a template for a survey to town of Baraboo Citizens in reference to updating the Town of Baraboo Comprehensive plan made by Randy Puttkamer, seconded by Lea Ann Geick. The survey would include garbage/recycling, data centers, fire and ambulance building auxiliary and multifamily housing. Motion carried unanimously. 8. Commission member spent time going though old files and organizing 9. No communications given 10. Next meeting are set for February 2 and March 2, 2026. 11. Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM A quorum of the Baraboo Town Board attended this meeting to gather information about a subject on which the town board has a decision-making responsibility.
