S:Clerk/Committees-Commissions/Architectural/Minutes/2025/ACmin 3-4-26 City of Oconomowoc Architectural Commission Meeting Minutes March 4, 2026 Chairman Flint called the meeting to order at 4:30 pm. Members Present: Otten, Flint, Krogstad and Schulz Members Absent: Johnson Staff Present: Weber, Gallo, Frye and Dehnert 2. Approve minutes of February 4, 2026: Motion by Otten to approve the February 4, 2026 minutes; second by Flint. Motion carried 3-0-1 (Krogstad abstained). 3. WIS-PAK - Consider/approve a special exception for signage at 970 Blue Ribbon Circle N: Weber explained the applicant is looking for approval of a monument sign and a wall sign to be located on the screening on top of their building which requires a special exception due to its size. Staff believes the sign on the top should be even larger for visibility on I94. Weber noted, however, that she received a letter yesterday from the Southwest Business Park at Pabst Farms Owners Association which agree with the sign on the building as proposed but no larger. Based on this letter, Weber recommended approval of the sign as proposed. The applicant, Lindsey Mickelson, explained the sign as proposed will be readable and the business does not want it to be any larger. Motion by Flint to approve a special exception for signage for WIS-PAK at 970 Blue Ribbon Circle N as presented; second by Krogstad. Motion carried 4-0. 4. Rakowski Residence – Consider/approve a façade update at 216 N Lake Road: Weber explained this property is located in the Isthmus District which requires all exterior alterations must be reviewed by the Architectural Commission. The proposed project includes adding portico’s over both entrances on the front elevation; replacing the siding with an update to the color; and updating the back deck. Weber recommended approval. The applicant, Adam Landwehr of Elegant Exteriors, provided samples and colors. He intends to use a Terra Brown LP smart siding and Snowscape White LP Smart Side trim (which mimics cedar); is not replacing the windows and getting away from the fluted corners; will be keeping the flower boxes; the light sconces are being replaced with lights that shine down and a canned light over the entrance; the hot tub on the back deck will be removed; replacing the deck boards with composite and the railing with an aluminum Bronze Powder coated cable rail system on both levels; accent lighting in the stairs and post lights in the lower level; the soffit is to be stained Chestnut; and the lower level repainted to match the deck. Members suggested that the deck boards be a darker color or the same color as the soffit; and overall liked the changes. Motion by Krogstad to approve the façade update for the Rakowski residence at 216 N Lake Road as proposed; second by Otten. Motion carried 4-0. 5. Reports and comments from the City Planning Department: Weber explained the deadline on the noncompliance issue at Winnesota was March 1. Staff did a site visit earlier this week and found they had changed out the coping and repainted the downspouts as required. Weber also thanked Schultz for 28 years of service on the Architectural Commission. 6. Reports and comments from the Architectural Commissioners: Members thanked Weber for all her work for the Architectural Commission and wished her well in the future. 7. Adjourn: Motion by Flint to adjourn at 5:03 pm; second by Schultz. Motion carried 4-0. Chris Dehnert, Deputy City Clerk
