Architectural Commission Meeting Minutes
February 4, 2026
Chairman Flint called the meeting to order at 4:31 pm.
Members Present: Schulz, Otten, Johnson and Flint
Members Absent: Krogstad
Staff Present: Weber, Gallo, Frye, Dehnert and Herzog
2. Approve minutes of January 7, 2026: Motion by Flint to approve the January 7, 2026 minutes; second by
Schultz. Motion carried 3-0-1 (Otten abstained).
Staff requested hearing Item 4. first to allow time for the applicant of Item 3. to arrive.
4. 1233-1245 Corporate Center Drive - Consider/approve a master sign plan for 1233-1245 Corporate
Center Drive: Weber explained she has been working with the applicant for an update to their sign which led to
the creation of the master sign plan because they did not previously have a master sign plan for this multi-tenant
building. There will be 2 dominant tenants in the building, and they are trying to get a complete sign plan for the
whole building. The applicant provided several types of signs and sizes, and all signs will be individual channel
letters. Weber suggested adding a wall sign as a type of sign and requested sign faces be white instead of white
or ivory. She recommended approval with conditions listed in the background. Jaina Westphal of Lemberg Electric
Company said a wall sign would consist of a flat ACM panel by the door, and the members agreed with a non-
illuminated flat panel sign by the door and that any acrylic signage is to be bright white. Weber said the monument
sign is a cabinet sign which the owner does not want to replace. Members asked about signage on the canopies,
and Westphal said removal of the canopies has been discussed. Weber said an address could be added to the
canopy, just no signage. Motion by Flint to approve a master sign plan for 1233-1245 Corporate Center Drive with
the following amendments: all white colored acrylic signs are to be bright white; allow wall signs which are to be
flat ACM panels; and addresses only are allowed to be on canopies; second by Johnson. Motion amended to
provide that flat ACM panels are allowed adjacent to any door; second by Johnson. Motion carried 4-0.
3. D & H Industries – Consider/approve a façade update at 510 Worthington Street: Weber explained this
item was postponed by the Architectural Commission last month due to issues the members had with the material
proposed for the administrative building. The applicant is now requesting approval of their plans for the warehouse
only and will come back in the future for the administrative building. Weber said their updated plan shows
evergreens along the warehouse instead of arborvitae, and the owner is going to look at each venting on the roof
and remove any that are not needed. She encouraged the applicant to bring proper materials for the
administrative building when they come back and recommended approval with considerations. Members asked
about screening the rooftop units and questioned the window color. Erik Madisen, architect provided a sample of
the materials to be used on the storage building; the windows will have black frames and clear glazing; he and the
owner did not have any discussions on the roof; and the owner is going to get a board made up with the correct
color for the administrative building. Gallo questioned the size of the evergreens, and Madisen believes they will
be purchasing larger starter trees. Motion by Johnson to approve the façade update for D & H Industries at 510
Worthington Street with clear glass not blue as shown and the height of trees are to be approved by staff; second
by Schultz. Motion amended to clarify that the approval is for the warehouse portion only and the administrative
building update will be brought forward at a future meeting; second by Schultz. Motion carried 4-0.
