TOWN OF PORT EDWARDS
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN ELECTORS MINUTES
Date: May 6th, 2024
Call to Order: Chairman Randy Moody called the special Town meeting of the electors to
order at 6:00p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited to start the meeting.
Meeting Certification: This meeting has been properly posted (on the Town Hall door), as
well as published on our website to notify the public of date, place, time, and agenda.
Attendance: Chairman Randy Moody, Supervisors Tim Schmidt, Jeff O’Donnell, Treasurer
Kathy Reese, and Clerk Michelle Sorenson. Members of the Township also present were
Brendan Doughty, Doris Challoner, Larry Egland, and Orville Schraeder.
Agenda:
Approve the agenda
Review any and all updates, changes and corrections made to the Town ordinances,
including (but not limited to) the Zoning ordinance
Act on these updates, changes and corrections
Adjourn
Motion was made by Schmidt and seconded by O’Donnell to approve the agenda. Motion
carried.
Ordinance Updates, Changes, Corrections: Chairman Moody presented printed copies of
the summaries of all the recent updates, changes, and corrections that the board would like to
make to the Town’s ordinances. It was a huge task that was summarized in over 25 pages.
Moody reviewed all the updates, changes, and corrections and answered any questions along
the way. Some edits were made to be more in line with current state statutes as some wording
was old, out dated and irrelevant. Some language was adopted from other Townships in order
to develop the most complete district purpose statements.
Action Taken: Brendan Doughty made a motion to approve the updates, changes, and
corrections as they were presented and explained. Larry Egland seconded the motion and
upon counting the votes all were in favor with no one opposed so motion carried.
Adjourn: Being no other business to conduct, O’Donnell made a motion to adjourn the
meeting at 7:12p.m. and Schmidt seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Michelle Sorenson, Clerk
