CITY OF PITTSVILLE
WATER & SEWER COMMISSION
Wednesday, September 9, 2026
Council Chambers – 5318 First Ave. Pittsville
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman, Jerry Jensen.
Members Present: Deana Becker, Janel Swoboda, Bob Schooley and Dennis Todd
Also Present: Peter Petersen, Director of Public Works, and Mark Darr, Mayor
No Conflicts of Interest were identified.
Motion by Becker, second by Schooley to approve the minutes from August 12, 2026. Motion carried.
There was a leaky water service lateral on Main St. by Stafford’s residence. It was on the city side, so the city
was financially responsible for the repair. This has been fixed and paid for already.
After doing research, Peter has found that repair recommended by Steves Plumbing and Heating is the only way
to fix the hole in the Cat Creek Pipe. Motion by D. Todd. Hire Steves plumbing and make the deposit payment
(half of the total price). Second by Becker. Motion carried.
Lift station 2 had its yearly inspection. Findings were that the amps are down. This is to be expected with a 23-
year-old pump. Options are to replace the impellors for roughly $4,000 and they will last another 5-6 years or
replace the pump for $14,000 and hope to get another 20+ years out of it. Motion made by Bob Schooley to
replace the pump. Second by Deana. Motion carried.
Peter discussed the Operational report. He mentioned the VFD needs to be replaced this coming spring and he’s
waiting on the quote from CTW. He also mentioned it needs to be on the commissions radar that the city will
need to start adding more wells in the coming years. There was a cross-connection issue at 5253 3rd Ave. Owner
has been notified that he has 30 days to correct this before receiving a fine.
Angela discussed the administrative report.
