Tree Board — Minutes

Village of Whiting Tree Board Minutes August 4, 2026 Meeting called to order at 4:00 pm by Chairperson, Kevin Lutz Roll call. Members present: Trustee(s) Kevin Lutz; citizen member(s): Danny Farley; Members absent: citizen member Kimberly MacPherson. Also present: Bill Taughner (Village President), Jacob Wilcox (Director of Public Works) other Village residents. Meeting was called to order at 4pm by Chairperson Kevin Lutz. 1. Approval of November 26th meeting minutes. Motion made by Farley and seconded by Lutz to approve the minutes. Motion passed by unanimous vote. 2. Discussion and possible action re. Participation in the UW-Stevens Point / DNR Tree Inventory and Management Plan. After discussion, the Board members agreed to research the plan more thoroughly for possible actions needed and to present possible actions at the next Tree Board meeting. 3. Discussion and possible action re. Arbor Day 2026 tree planting. Farley volunteered to research and purchase trees to be planted and Director Wilcox indicated there was money available from the Village to pay for the trees. 4. Discussion and possible action re. Forest Management Plan. Issue was discussed. Motion made by Lutz and seconded by Farley to postpone discussion until next Tree Board meeting. Motion passed by unanimous vote. 5. Discussion and possible action re. 2027 invasive species. Motion made by Lutz and seconded by Farley that future Village Budgets include funds for removal of invasive species and other Tree Board duties as needed. Motion passed by unanimous vote. 6. Discussion and possible action re. future agenda items. Possible agenda items included the following: Invasive Species, Tree Planting, Forest Management Plans, and future Tree Board Budgets.
