Town of Black Earth Minutes of Town Board Meeting Tuesday, August 18, 2026 1. Meeting call to Order. Town Chair Tom Turk called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM . Supervisors Joann Bennett, Barb Parrell, Treasurer Brenda Kahl, and Clerk Stephanie Zwettler were present. Also in attendance: Jason Handel. 2. Proof of Posting. An affidavit of posting was provided. 3. Approval of the Agenda. Barb Parrell moved and Joann Bennett seconded the motion to approve the agenda. Motion carried. 4. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting – July 21 , 2026 . Barb Parrell moved and Joann Bennett seconded the motion to approve the minutes from July 21 , 2 026, as presented. Motion carried. 5. Financial Report. a. Money Market: $334,119.10 Checking: $20,862.33 b. Approval of written checks. Barb Parrell moved and Joann Bennett seconded the motion to approve written checks numbered 12813-12837, including direct deposit paychecks. Motion carried. 6. Plan Commission. Meeting is on August 25, 2026. 7. Patrolman’s Report. Patrolman Jason Handel reported that a culvert on Reeve Road failed and needs to be replaced; a large oak tree needs to be removed on the same road; the damaged guardrail on Reeve Road has been replaced; the town tractor received warranty work; and crack filling is estimated at $20,000. 8. Gateway to the Driftless – resolution of support. The Town Board discussed the proposed resolution. No action was taken. 9. Reeve Rd bridge – update. No update. 10. Set date for Budget Work Meeting. The Budget Work Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and will immediately follow the Town Board meeting, at approximately 7:00 PM. 11. EMS Board Report. The meeting is next week. 12. Fire Board Report. The next meeting is in September. 13. Future agenda items. Website update. Minutes of Town Board meeting – August 18, 2026 14. Adjourn.
