TITLE: Town of Berry Plan Commission Meeting Minutes DATE: August 3, 2026 TIME: 7:00 – 9:13 p.m. PLACE: Town Hall, 9046 State Road 19, Mazomanie, WI 53560 POSTINGS: Town Hall and Town of Berry website I. CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present: Duane Haag, Joe Kruchten, Chris Schwoerer and Travis Richards. David Evert was excused. II. CONFIRMATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH OPEN MEETING LAW The Clerk confirmed that the agenda was posted at the town hall and on the website. III. APPROVE MINUTES OF JULY 6, 2026 Motion Schwoerer/Richards to approve the July 6, 2026 minutes. Motion carried. Vote 4-0 IV. PUBLIC COMMENTS: You may address the Commission on any item not on the agenda. A discussion item may be placed on a future agenda. Public comment may be heard on any agenda either now, or at the time the agenda items is to be discussed, or at the discretion of the Chair at the time the agenda item is discussed. Comments are generally limited to three minutes. V. PUBLIC HEARING, FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: A. (R-2026-6) Scott & Dawn Evert, 8916 State Highway 19, rezone 5.06 acres from A-1EX to AG Public hearing opened at 7:01 pm. No comments. Public hearing closed at 7:01 pm. Motion Kruchten/Richards to recommend approval of Scott & Dawn Evert’s, rezone of 5.06 acres from A-1EX to AG. Motion carried. Vote 4-0 B. (R-2026-7) Sundance Development, Brewery Road, rezone 126.36 acres from AG to SFR Public hearing opened at 7:01 pm. Public comments about widening and bringing Brewery road up to subdivision standards; an additional outlet road; buffer between the development and the Ice Age Trail; and number of proposed lots and if they will allow animal units. Public hearing closed at 7:16 pm. Motion Richards/Kruchten to recommend approval of Sundance Development’s rezone of 126.36 acres from AG to SFR. Motion carried. Vote 4-0 VI. DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: A. (FR-2026-1) Fred Ballweg, Hill Point Road, field road permit application Motion Kruchten/Haag to recommend approval of Fred Ballweg’s field road permit application. Motion carried. Vote 4-0 VII. DISCUSSION/RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS RE: A. (V-2026-2) Whippoorwill, Randall Laufenberg, 7914 State Highway 19, variance application Motion Haag/Kruchten to recommend approval to the Board of Zoning Appeals the Whippoorwill, Randall Laufenberg’s, variance request. Motion carried. Vote 4-0 VIII. DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE – CHAPTER 5 – TRANSPORTATION, CHAPTER 6 – UTILITIES AND FACILITIES, CHAPTER 9 – ENERGY AND ATTACHMENT D: WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS FACILITIES GUIDELINES Caitlin Shanahan presented revisions to Chapter 5 – Transportation, Chapter 6 – Utilities and Facilities, Chapter 9 – Energy and reviewed Attachment D: Wireless Communications Facilities Guidelines. She also submitted a Draft Plan Edits Summary from previous meetings. IX. ADJOURN Motion Haag/Schwoerer to adjourn until the next regular meeting or the call of the Chair. Motion carried. Vote 4-0
