TITLE: Town of Berry Plan Commission Meeting Minutes DATE: May 4, 2026 TIME: 7:00 – 9:24 p.m. PLACE: Town Hall, 9046 State Road 19, Mazomanie, WI 53560 POSTINGS: Town Hall and Town of Berry website I. CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present: Duane Haag, David Evert, Joe Kruchten, Chris Schwoerer and Travis Richards. II. CONFIRMATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH OPEN MEETING LAW The Clerk confirmed that the agenda was posted at the town hall and on the website. III. APPROVE MINUTES OF APRIL 6, 2026 Motion Schwoerer/Kruchten to approve the April 6, 2026 minutes. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 IV. PUBLIC COMMENTS: You may address the Commission on any item not on the agenda. A discussion item may be placed on a future agenda. Public comment may be heard on any agenda either now, or at the time the agenda items is to be discussed, or at the discretion of the Chair at the time the agenda item is discussed. V. PUBLIC HEARING, FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: A. (R-2026-3) Robert Kalsow, 9111 Kalsow Road, rezone 1.83 acres from A-1Ex to SFR and 34.67 to EA Public hearing opened at 7:01 pm. No comments. Public hearing closed at 7:01 pm. Motion Evert/Kruchten to recommend approval of Robert Kalsow’s rezone of 1.83 acres from A-1Ex to SFR and 34.67 from A-1Ex to EA. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 VI. DISCUSSION/RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS RE: A. (V-2026-1) Scott and Dawn Evert, 8916 State Road 19, variance application Motion Richards/Evert to recommend to the Board of Zoning Appeals approval of Scott and Dawn Evert’s variance application. Motion carried. Vote 5-0 VII. DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE – HOUSING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CHAPTERS Caitlin Shanahan presented the proposed vision statement and revisions to Chapter 7 Housing and Chapter 8 Economic Development of the Comprehensive Plan. Next month the commission will be working on Agricultural, Natural and Cultural Resources. VIII. DISCUSSION/ACTION RE: UPDATING LEGACY ZONING DISTRICTS TO CURRENT ZONING DISTRICTS Mitchell Bortz from GEC attended the meeting. Reviewed items and next step will be holding an open house. IX. ADJOURN Motion Evert/Richards to adjourn until the next regular meeting or the call of the Chair. Motion carried. Vote 5-0
