Economic Development Committee Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, April 7, 2026 @ 4:30 p.m.
Location: Community Room
A quorum of the Board of Supervisors of the Town of Presque Isle may be present at a meeting of the
EDC committee. No deliberation will occur and no action will be taken by the Town Board at this
meeting.
I. Called to order by Chris Wolter @ 4:30 p.m. Mark Billhymer, Gary Owens (present by
phone) attended.
II. Recognition of guests were Barb Peck and Carl Wolter , Town Board Liaison.
III. Approval of May 20, 2026 Agenda-Motion made by Mark and seconded by Gary. All ayes
IV. Approval of March 24, 2026 Minutes-Motion made by Mark and seconded by Gary. All ayes.
V. Chair Remarks: Barb Peck submitted her letter of interest to apply for the EDC opening as a
business member. The next step is for Barb to be interviewed by the Town Board and for
the Town Board to approve Barb’s committee membership at a Town Board meeting.
VI. Finance Report: Mark reported that we have $3,186.00 available, of which $1686.00 is
donations for restocking the Pipke Park Pond in the future.
VII. New Business:
A. Discuss the best process by which the EDC will add interested members to the
committee. Al Eschenbach, Town Chairman, is working on setting up a Forum for
interested volunteers to attend. The Forum would consist of the various volunteer
committees/organizations from Presque Isle. Each group would have a table set up so
the potential volunteers could find out more about the organization and it’s goals, etc.
B. A date for this event will be forthcoming. Gary suggested that EDC members make calls
to the various organizations to request that they have representation at our EDC
meetings to help with future project ideas, etc. Further discussion is needed at our next
meeting.
VIII. Old Business:
A. Election of officers-tabled till May meeting.
B. Signage update- Chris attempted to get in touch with Tom Nimsgern from Lakeland Sign
and Graphics. Will try again after her return the first week of May 2026. Mark Billhymer
expressed an interest in helping with completing the Phase 3 signage project upon his
return in May 2026.
C. Main Street Overview/Walking Path- Cathy Logan-Weber Town Board Supervisor is
working on getting grants/funding to complete the town’s portion of the walking path
from Pipke Park to Main Street. Two signs (top and bottom of path) will be put up by
Lakeland Sign and Graphics this Spring along with the other way-finding signs.
D. Affordable Housing Update- Barb Peck attended the Zoning committee meeting and it
seems like rezoning could possibly occur, if a contractor requests a variance for building
affordable housing in Presque Isle. For now, it is difficult to ascertain where that would
be unless someone comes to the town with a request. Barb Peck will send a letter to
local builders/contractors/excavators to see if there’s any interest locally.
E. Future project recommendations- See above. Discussion ensued. See above.
F. Chamber news & events-The Chamber Director has resigned and the Chamber will be
actively pursuing another director.
G. Public Comment-None
I. Adjournment- A motion was made by Mark and seconded by Gary to adjourn the meeting at
5: 25 p.m. Motion passed. Next meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 4:30
p.m. in the Community Room.
Respectfully Submitted,
Christine A. Wolter President/Secretary
