Town of Verona Natural and Recreational Areas Committee Minutes Town of Verona meeting 9-8-2026 Present: Bill Keen, Kirk Feller, Dave Lonsdorf, Jo Tucker Chair Keen called the meeting to order at 6:38PM Approval of Agenda- Motion to approve agenda: by Lonsdorf, Second Feller, passed 4-0 Approval of Minutes from July 9, 2026 Motion to approve, Tucker, Second Lonsdorf, passed 4-0 Public Comments-None Update from Chair/ Members: None Update from Board Member: None Discuss dark sky ordinance: Tucker suggested that we break down the key issues for a lighting ordinance and discuss each separately. Admin, Technical properties and enforcement. It was decided to do enforcement first. Keen will talk to Renee Lauber from Towns Association, and contact the Town of Berry, Lonsdorf will contact the Town of Perry, Dunn, and Westport, Feller will contact the Town of Springdale, and Tucker will contact the Town of Rutland and the Town of Middleton. Questions to be asked: Do you get complaints related to lighting? How do you handle the complaints? Who goes out to inspect the lighting in a complaint? New construction lighting plans, is it reviewed and by whom? What would you change in the ordinance to help enforcement? Members will present their findings at the next meeting. Discuss rural character definition: Taken off agenda Discuss plant signs and brochures: Lonsdorf will bring the latest at our next meeting. Next meeting: NRAC will meet on October 13, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. Motion to adjourn: by Feller, Second by Tucker, Passed 4-0 at 7:40 p.m.
