1 MINUTES Note: These are the proposed Minutes that will be approved at the next meeting. ____________________________________________________________________________ Town of Sharon Board Meeting Thursday, August 13, 2026 – 6:30 p.m. Sharon Town Hall 1.Call to Order: Chairman Check called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 2. Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 3.Roll Call: Chairman Check, Supervisor Gibbs, Supervisor Gagas, Clerk Treasurer Filtz were present. Joe Jakubek, Road Foreman, Fire Chief Boenski and Josh Richter. 4. Notice of Meeting Postings: Notice of the meeting was posted in three places in the Town of Sharon (town hall window, kiosk between Sylvia’s and Polonia Café, kiosk in front of North Star Machine) and on the town website and Facebook. 5. Approval of Agenda: Motion made by Supervisor Gibbs, seconded by Supervisor Gagas to approve the agenda. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. 6. Approval of Minutes of July 9, 2026, Board Meeting: Motion made by Supervisor Gagas, seconded by Supervisor Gibbs to approve the Minutes. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. 7. Approval of the Bill Listing for July 10, 2026, through August 13, 2026: Motion made by Supervisor Gibbs, seconded by Supervisor Gagas to approve the Bill Listing. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. 8. Plan Commission Report: Supervisor Gibbs did not have a Plan Commission report this month. 9. Polonia Park Commission Report: Supervisor Gibbs read the Polonia Park Commission Report. 10.Operator Licenses: Motion made by Supervisor Gagas, seconded by Supervisor Gibbs to approve the renewal Operator Licenses for Jeremy Simonis and the new Operator License for Amber Peterson. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. 11.Driveway Variance for Lonnie Firkus (Arnie Kizewski): Request for a variance was made for consideration of safer passage onto Edgewood Road. The Board discussed the driveway that was already constructed by Firkus without approval. Chairman Check discussed an existing recorded easement for access purposes. Discussion ensued regarding a 150’ distance from the Gibson driveway as the property owner does not want to driveway so close to her property. Motion by Supervisor Gagas, seconded by Supervisor Gibbs to approve the Firkus/Kizewski driveway at 150’ north of the Gibson driveway at 1347 Edgewood Road N. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. 2 12.Driveway Variance for Josh Richter: Josh Richter applied for a driveway which is within the 200’ threshold on Merryland Drive. He is requesting a variance. After discussion and review of aerial photos, the Board determined that the Richter request is reasonable considering the neighboring driveway is not used often. Motion by Supervisor Gagas, seconded by Supervisor Gibbs to approve the driveway variance for Josh Richter. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. 13.Resolution to Protect Local Roads: Chairman Check explained the reason to pass the Resolution. It came from the WTA about three years ago. The Resolution will be mailed to our state district reps. It explains the need to enact comprehensive, sustainable transportation funding. Motion made by Supervisor Gibbs, seconded by Supervisor Gagas to approve the Resolution. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. 14. Chairman’s Report: Bruce Boenski gave the Sharon EMS report. Fahrner Asphalt is done crack-filling town roads. Rustic and Erin Roads still have issues that have not been addressed by Fahrner. Dexter from Gremmer will be doing some preliminary work with the Wilderness Drive road project and he will also be doing a ride around for the Twin Lakes road project.
