CITY OF MENOMONIE COUNCIL MEETING OFFICIAL COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS Page 1 of 4 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin, was held in open session on, May 18, 2026, and called to order by Mayor Crowe at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The following members were present: Edwards, Sutherland, Yonko, Gentz, Hargrove, Schlough, Erdman and Sommerfeld. Schwebs attended virtually via Zoom. Pickard and Luther were absent. MOTION made by Erdman, seconded by Schlough, and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of the May 4, 2026, City Council meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS – None NO ACTION was taken on the School District of the Menomonie Area School Board Representative presentation, given by Abe Smith and Rachel Henderson, about the school voucher transparency. MOTION was made by Gentz, seconded by Schlough, and carried unanimously on roll call vote to authorize the Mayor to sign a Cooperative Agreement with WisDNR for the construction and maintenance of fishing piers on the Red Cedar River northeast of the STH 29 Bridge, contingent upon City Attorney review. MOTION was made by Gentz, seconded by Hargrove, and carried unanimously on roll call vote to approve the proposal from AET for Well #9 Special Inspections at a cost of $27,866. MOTION was made by Schlough, seconded by Hargrove, and carried unanimously to approve the Special Event Request from Dunn County Fair Board for the closure of 17th Street East from Main Street East to 5th Avenue East from July 20, 2026 to July 27, 2026. MOTION was made by Yonko, seconded by Hargrove, and carried unanimously to allow Ann Vogl to speak to Council. MOTION was made by Yonko, seconded by Edwards, and carried unanimously to confirm the Mayoral Appointment of Ann Vogl to the Plan Commission through April 2029. MOTION was made by Hargrove, seconded by Edwards, and carried unanimously to confirm the Mayoral Appointment of Julie Holger to the Tourism Commission through April 2027. BUDGET TRANSFERS – None MAYOR’S REPORT – Mayor Crowe shared a Proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month. Mayor Crowe encouraged City Council members to take advantage of a professional development opportunity including an upcoming Robert’s Rules presentation by the League of WI Municipalities. COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS – Administrator Atkinson echoed the Mayor’s support for council members to attend training or educational opportunities, utilizing City funds set aside for this particular expense. Alderperson Yonko thanked the community for their support with the passing of her father, Dennis Page 2 of 4 Spader. Alderperson Hargrove shared a press release with council members, calling on elected officials to support efforts for UW Health and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to resume gender affirming care for minors.
