FEBRUARY 2025 MINUTES Note: These are the proposed Minutes that will be approved at the next meeting. ____________________________________________________________________________ Town of Sharon Board Meeting Tuesday, February 11, 2025 – 6:30 p.m. Sharon Town Hall Call to Order: Chairman Check called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Roll Call: Chairman Check, Supervisor Gibbs, Supervisor Gagas, Clerk Treasurer Filtz and 12 others were present. Notice of Meeting Postings: Notice of the meeting was posted in three places in the Town of Sharon (town hall window, kiosk between Sylvia’s and Polonia Café, kiosk in front of North Star Machine) and on the town website and Facebook. Approval of Agenda: Motion made by Supervisor Gibbs, seconded by Supervisor Gagas to approve the agenda. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes of January 14, 2025, Board Meeting Minutes: Motion made by Supervisor Gagas, seconded by Supervisor Gibbs to approve the Minutes. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. Approval of the Bill Listing for January 14, 2025, through February 11, 2025: Motion made by Supervisor Gagas, seconded by Supervisor Gibbs to approve the Bill Listing. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. Rosholt School District Referendum Presentation: The Rosholt School District Superintendent gave a presentation regarding the referendum on the April ballot. Plan Commission Report: There was no Plan Commission report. Polonia Park Commission Report: Lori gave the Park Commission report to the Board. The town attorney is reviewing the bylaws. Tree Cutting: Chairman Check said the town does not have the manpower to cut trees safely and there is a large number of trees to cut along Wilderness including stumps. Zielies will cut for a week for a cost of $32,000 using machines and grinders from CTH J to Twin Lakes. They anticipate getting the job completed in a week. Motion made by Supervisor Gibbs, seconded by Supervisor Gagas to approve Zielies doing the tree cutting on Wilderness Drive for one week for $32,000. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. Chip Sealing/Wedging: Joe presented a list of town roads in need of chip sealing. Sharonwood Lane – CTH Y to termini Bentley Road – CTH K to CTH Y Lepak Lane – CTH K to termini Wilson Lane – Church Street to termini Vincent Lane – CTH K to termini John’s Lane - CTH K to termini Sherwood Drive – John’s Drive to termini Church Street – CTH K to sidewalk edge and sidewalk edge to STH 66 Chairman Check will have a conversation with the church regarding the paving of 20’. These roads will also need to be wedged. No double chip seal on Ellis Road. The opening of bids will be for the March 10th meeting. Appointed Clerk/Treasurer Position: Motion made by Supervisor Gagas, seconded by Supervisor Gibbs to post the appointment of the Clerk/Treasurer position. The appointment will be at the March 10th meeting. Ayes: All. Nays: None. Motion carried. Chairman’s Report: Chairman Check talked to Gremmer and reported that notices will be in the newspaper and on March 6th, the online bidding process will take place. On March 10th, the Board will approve the bid winner. The project is anticipated to take about two months. Chairman Check and Joe looked at town roads that need gravel. They anticipate 300 loads of gravel will be needed and that’s only about half of the town roads in need of more gravel. More discussion ensued regarding the town’s ordinance regarding no motors on Lake Jacqueline. Chairman Check said the Town Board needs to hear from the Lake Association regarding the issue. There was discussion to possibly limit motor horsepower. The Board scheduled a Zoom meeting with the Jacqueline Lake Association on Tuesday, April 22nd at 6 p.m. to discuss this matter further. Bruce Boenski gave the Sharon EMS report. Next Meeting: Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Town of Sharon Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. Adjournment: Motion made by Supervisor Gagas, seconded by Chairman Check to adjourn. Ayes: All. Nays: None.
