1 AMERY CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS May 20 , 2026 The Amery City Council met on May 20 , 2026 , at the Amery City Center . Mayor, Rick Van Blaricom called the meeting to order at 5 :0 0 p.m. Roll Call: Clerk-Treasurer , Taylor Larson conducted Roll Call. Present: Mayor , Rick Van Blaricom ; and Alderpersons ; Jason Bottolfson; Frances Duncanson ; Eric Elkin ; Adam Honl; Sharon Marks and Roger Van Someren . Staff Present: City Administrator, Alex Mansfield; Clerk -Treasurer , Taylor Larson ; Police Chief , Dan Peters ; Fire Chief, Chuck Frohn ; Library Director, Heather Wiarda; Public Works Director, Jeff Mahoney and Deputy Clerk-Treasurer, Lisa Gunderson . Others present: Tom Stangl – Amery Free Press, Caleb Weber – SEH, and Drew Lindh - MSA Motion by Alderperson Elkin ; seconded by Alderperson Marks to adopt the agenda. Ayes – 6 Nayes – 0 Motion Carried. New Business 1. Public Comment – Dan Peters promoted the Kops & Kids golf tournament on June 30 th . Eric Elkin informed about the East Immanu e l Lutheran Church V eteran ’s M emorial dedication on May 23 rd at 1pm. 2. Pay App #22 for the Wastewater Treatment Plant – Caleb Weber with SEH present Pay App #22 for the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the amount of $313,339.50 and gave a brief update. Motion by Alderperson Marks ; seconded by Alderperson Honl to a approve Pay App #22 for the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the amount of $313,339.50. Roll Call Vote Ayes – Bottolfson, Duncanson, Elkin, Honl, Marks, Van Someren Nayes – None Motion Carried 3. MSA Project Update – Drew Lindh with MSA gave an update on the Hillcrest Drive and Zoning Code Update projects MSA is currently working on with the City. 4. Ordinance 06-2026 An Ordinance Amending Chapter 193 Building Construction of the Municipal Code – Administrator Mansfield present Ord. 06-2026 which updates the City ’s building construction code to follow state practices. Motion by Alderperson Duncanson ; seconded by Alderperson Elkin to adopt Ordinance 0 6 -2026 An Ordinance Amending Chapter 193 Building Construction of the Municipal Code. Ayes – 6 Nayes – 0 Motion Carried. 2 5. 2027 Budget Kickoff – Administrator Mansfield kicked off the 2027 budget season with the council . He gave them the calendar for the budget season and discussed what the Council would like to see in the budget process. 6. Council Comment – None. 7. Van Blaricom read the closed session item aloud in full. Motion by Elkin ; seconded by Duncanson to go into Closed Session at 6:14 pm under Wis. Stat. §19.85(1)(e) – Deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session. -Nominal Payment Parcel Report for Hillcrest Drive. Open Session – Action on Closed Session Agenda – Council came out of closed session and acted on the closed session item. Motion by Alderperson Duncanson; seconded by Alderperson Elkin to approve the Nominal Payment Parcel Report for Hillcrest Drive as presented.
