Price County Administration Committee Minutes Date: May 12, 2026 Time: 9:00 a.m. Place: Courthouse County Board Room 101; 126 Cherry St; Phillips, WI 54555 Call to Order: Meeting called to order by Dennis Wartgow, Committee Chairperson. Roll Call Members Present: Joe Baratka, Paula Houdek, Jeff Ulrich (remote), Dennis Wartgow Members Excused: Jordan Spacek Others Present: Brian Ernst, County Chairperson; Nick Trimner, Couty Administrator Items For Discussion and Possible Action 1. Public Comment: None Communications: None 2. Meeting Minutes from April 14, 2026 Motion Houdek/Baratka to approve the April 14, 2026, meeting minutes. Motion carried. 3. Employee Status Updates New Hires, Promotions, & Reassignments • Lori Svoboda – Child Support Specialist • Zachary Stendahl – Highway Operator • Chelsey Howell – PT Deputy Sheriff • Dawson Hauschild – Deputy Sheriff Terminations, Resignations, & Retirements • Dawn Schmutzer – Child Support Specialist • Dan Heenan – Highway Fleet & Facilities Superintendent • David Wesenick – Deputy Sheriff Recruitments • Administrative Assistant Child Support • Part-Time Correction Officer/Dispatcher • Part-Time Deputy Sheriff • Substitute Nutrition Site Managers • Additionally, there is an open Highway Department Fleet and Facilities Superintendent position opening, and internal applicants are being processed before recruiting. • Two new Health and Human Services Social Worker CLTS positions will be recruited after the job descriptions are updated. 4. Employee Handbook a. Inclement Weather (New): The committee received and reviewed the Inclement Weather & Emergency Closure Draft Policy, and it is on file. At the next meeting, verbiage will be finalized for the employee handbook for full County Board consideration. Discussion on the particulars of the policy. The County Board Chairperson will be added to the policy as a part of decision-making process. Further discussion on Department Heads’ ability to decide to close their office or allow department employees to work from home. Motion Baratka/Houdek to recommend to move forward with the policy and bring it to the next meeting. Motion carried. b. Smart Glasses and Other Wearable Recording Devices (New): The policy was brought forward as a precautionary measure, and there has not been an issue with C ounty employees recording with Smart Glasses. The policy was discussed and was identified as mainly an employee rule, not a public rule. Motion Baratka /Houdek to move forward with the policy as written. Discussion held. Motion carried. 5. Procedure for Setting Future Elected Wages: A draft outline was presented for a Procedure for Setting Future Elected Wages, and it is on file. Discussion held. Motion Baratka/Ulrich to move forward with the Procedure for Setting Future Elected Wages. Motion carried. 6. Next Meeting Date: June 9, 2026 7.
