- How we get it
- The provider lookup's own CSV export (one page read and one export, a few seconds apart); each read is verified against the item count the lookup page itself reports.
- Terms
- Public information on the DCFS Sunshine site (no robots.txt; no CAPTCHA; checked 2026-10-01). For day care homes and group day care homes the license holder's name, street address and phone are not collected.
- Attribution
- Source: Illinois Department of Early Childhood, Day Care Provider Lookup (sunshine.dcfs.illinois.gov).
Known gaps
- Inspections and violations are not published in bulk (they are PDFs on the Licensed Child Care Compliance search, one program at a time), so no Illinois program is shown as having a clean record.
- Only current licensees are listed; a program that closes drops out and is marked no longer listed here.
- License statuses are current values, not dated actions; the date shown is when this site first saw it.
- License-exempt programs are not included.
How violation severity is mapped
Every cited violation is filed as serious, non-serious or unknown. Unknown is never counted as a clean record.
