- History
- From 2023-10
- How often we sync
- Daily at 07:10 Central; the City refreshes the dataset every two weeks.
- Last complete sync
- Records
- 6,483 establishments
- 20,481 inspections
- How we get it
- Public API (Socrata SODA), read in full each run with keyset paging; verified against the dataset's own row count.
- Terms
- Published on the City of Austin open data portal (datahub.austintexas.gov) as Public Domain, as listed on the dataset (checked 2026-10-01). robots.txt asks for a 1-second crawl delay, which we keep. No sign-up or app token used.
- Attribution
- Source: City of Austin, Austin Public Health (data.austintexas.gov).
Known gaps
- Scores only: Austin publishes no itemised violations and no Priority/Core tiers, so these establishments are never shown as having 'no violations' or 'no serious violations'.
- The dataset keeps a rolling three years; earlier inspections are only here if we read them before they aged off.
- Other Texas cities (Dallas and Fort Worth current, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso) are not included yet; see the other Texas health sources.
How violation severity is mapped
Every cited violation is filed as serious, non-serious or unknown. Unknown is never counted as a clean record.
| The source says | We file it as | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Inspection score only (no itemised violations published) | unknown | Never counted as clean: score-only establishments are 'not assessed' in the 'no violations' and 'no serious violations' filters. |
